CYMAZ Services
Music has the power to transform lives and communities. It can affect your mood, envoke emotions and memories in ways that little else can. It is a fact that music making uses more of the brain than any other activity. CYMAZ believes that everyone should have the chance to develop and learn through music making, whether it’s individually or in a group.
CYMAZ has worked with many partners for over 10 years delivering and supporting music, radio and performance opportunities predominantly for young people. Throughout this time, ongoing evalution and relfection has enabled the team to develop a model and an approach which is extremely effective. The factors we believe are important in a successful project are;
• Young person (or client) centred – listening and responding to ideas and needs
• Offering a range of high quality musical opportunities including chances to create new compositions
• Working towards performance, showcases or podcasts to share and celebrate achievements
• Reflection and evaluation built into each session to capture journeys and involve participants in the process
• Working with support staff who play an active role in the music making and effectively support the pastoral needs of participants where necessary
• Effective briefing with all music and non-music staff before and after each session
• Signposting and offering advice and guidance to help participants progress, learn and grow
• Creating chances for young people to progress into leadership or peer mentor roles within the project
CYMAZ can tailor and deliver activity over any period of time, from short term one-off sessions to longer more sustained projects. Please see the section about CYMAZ Music Leaders for more information about the professionals CYMAZ works with to deliver activity.
