How it Works
Through making music, young people who may be “failing” in school find that they can achieve. This is because:
- the community musicians, often “failures” at school, are role models who earn their living playing music
- the learning is pupil centred
- the young people choose their own music
- they go at their own pace, usually with an agreed learning plan
- they learn in an informal environment
- they succeed because in the CYMAZ workshop the fear of failure has been removed
