First CYMAZ Radio Podcasts online!!

These two programmes were made at the Port Eliot Festival and the Extreme Voltage Celebration in July 2009 and were commissioned by The Works and Voltage respectively.

Hollaboxx Battle of The Bands Deadline Extended!

Hollaboxx have extended the deadline for their Battle of the Bands competition until the end of February.  The winners will be playing at a gig at the Livewire Youth project in Saltash, where the winner of this will get to record their demo!!!

All of us at CYMAZ would just like to take this last opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

The CYMAZ offices will be closing on the afternoon of Wednesday 23rd December until Monday 4th January 2010.  If you do need to contact us, please either call and leave a message on the answerphone or e-mail us and we’ll deal with your query when we return in the new year.

Vacancy – Freelance Project Manager – Super Sing Up Cluster project

A project manager is required for Sing Up Cornwall.

Sing Up is the national initiative for raising the status of singing in primary schools, through training teachers and singing leaders and initiating inspirational projects to get more people singing!

The Super Sing Up Cluster project will involve working with 5 Secondary schools/ Colleges plus a number of their feeder primary schools. The collaborative venture is a large-scale training and performance opportunity, culminating in a Grand Finale performance in June 2010.

The successful candidate should have experience in working in either the Secondary or Primary sectors and also managing large scale performance events of this type.

There is a fee of £2000 for this work. The management of this project can be developed in liaison with the schools involved and overseen by the Sing Up Area Leader based at KEAP. A start date of December 2009 is anticipated.

New Business Development Manager

We are delighted to announce that we have appointed Emily Foulkes for the post of Business Development Manager, starting in mid September 2009.

Emily has worked for Youth Music for almost 6 years, most recently as Children and Young People’s Development Officer.  She has been responsible for developing national programmes for young people which are delivered by a range of partners around the country.  She manages contracts with central government departments and other funders and is responsible for developing new work and resources in the areas of youth participation, volunteering and mentoring.

Emily will be staying on at Youth Music, working two days per week, continuing her role as Children and Young People’s Development Officer until March 2010.

We hope you’ll agree that this is a brilliant development opportunity for CYMAZ, and that you’ll join us in congratulating her!
