Kernow Voice

Kernow Voice is a vocal project based at Hall for Cornwall in Truro. Kernow Voice aims to work with young people aged 8-18 years.

There are three main parts to the project:

Weekly Sessions

There are two weekly sessions which run during term time. The sessions are open access, there are no auditions and no one is required to read music. The material covered is non-classical and ranges from soul to pop to gospel to world music and everything in between. The sessions are held at Hall for Cornwall on Wednesday evenings. There are two age groups 11-15 years and 15+. There is a small charge per term but bursaries are available.

Outreach Program

We hold regular vocal sessions across the county. Much of the work is targeted to work with specific groups and ages but the following sessions are open access:

  • Acorn Choir, Penzance:
    Monday evenings - 5-6pm - 8-12years singing group
  • Fourways, St Blazey:
Tuesday evenings - 6-7.30pm - singing and songwriting
  • Whitmoor Primary School:
    Friday evenings - singing group

Holiday events

Holiday events are usually based at Hall for Cornwall. The aim of the program is to offer vocal experiences to young people who don’t access the weekly or outreach program. We use a combination of local and national voice tutors to offer a variety of experiences form first time “ have a go” sessions to master classes.

For information on sessions please check out the “What’s on Where” section.
