Voltage

Voltage is Youth Music’s National volunteering programme which gives young people the chance to design their own volunteering opportunities linked to music.  Young people aged 16-25 receive training and support to develop their ideas and interests and support CYMAZ’s work.  They act as ambassadors for music and for young people, giving them voice and influence.  Taster volunteering opportunities give young people the chance to get involved in volunteering activity which will increase their skills and knowledge and contribute to improving services and the offer for young people’s music making.

On 23rd July 2009, a group of 4 young ambassadors from Cornwall, accompanied by youth workers and CYMAZ musicleaders, travelled to the Custard Factory in Birmingham for the Extreme Voltage National Celebration Day.  The event was a great success, with the CYMAZ participants being able to share experiences with new and existing Voltage volunteers from all over the country and produce a short radio programme, commissioned by Youth Music.  You can listen to this programme by visiting the Radio Podcast section of our website.

Youth Music’s Voltage programme is funded by v, the youth volunteering charity.  For more information on Voltage click here or if you’re 16-25 and thinking about volunteering, click here to go to the vinspired website.  If you live in Cornwall and want more information on volunteering in general, visit the Volunteer Cornwall website to see what opportunities are available and learn more.
